buddha

Once I realized that we all are on the same level, things started going a lot smoother.  Less comparison.  Less thought.  I am a buddha.  You are  a buddha.  We are a buddha.

We are all in this together.  Every single one of us.

10 Bulls – 2. Discovering the Footprints

My commentary below in blue.

2. Discovering the footprints

Along the riverbank under the trees, I discover footprints!

  • My search has led me to the right spot.  What I am looking for is close, and more importantly it exists!

Even under the fragrant grass I see his prints.

Deep in remote mountains they are found.

These traces no more can be hidden than one’s nose, looking heavenward.

  • And now that I have seen the signs.  The indications that it exists.  I begin to wonder how I ever missed them.

.
Original Comment:  Understanding the teaching, I see the footprints of the bull. Then I learn that, just as many utensils are made from one metal, so too are myriad entities made of the fabric of self. Unless I discriminate, how will I perceive the true from the untrue? Not yet having entered the gate, nevertheless I have discerned the path.

10 Bulls – 1. In Search of the Bull – Analysis

My commentary in blue for Bull 1 – In Search of the Bull.  Original commentary from Zen Flesh, Zen Bones appears below.  For more information on the ten bulls check out this site.  http://www.4peaks.com/ppox.htm
1. The Search for the Bull
In the pasture of this world, I endlessly push aside the tall grasses in search of the bull.

  • I realize that there is something missing.  If there is something missing then it means that it is apart from me.  I know that there is more than this.  I must search.

Following unnamed rivers, lost upon the interpenetrating paths of distant mountains,

  • I found sources of information.  Things that seem to be a way to find what I am missing.  I search many different sources, hear and see many beautiful things. and get lost along the way.

My strength failing and my vitality exhausted, I cannot find the bull.

  • I search and I search to point of of being ready quit.  But I know that if I keep searching I will find it.

I only hear the locusts chirring through the forest at night.

  • I hear the sounds of nature, but I still do not hear the sound of silence.

Original Comment: The bull never has been lost. What need is there to search? Only because of separation from my true nature, I fail to find him. In the confusion of the senses I lose even his tracks.Far from home, I see many crossroads, but which way is the right one I know not. Greed and fear, good and bad, entangle me.

Inner Peace

Inner Peace Zen Mister

If you yearn for inner peace, but do not meditate, then you are in luck. You can find peace by meditating. That thing that you have yearned for, inner peace, is attainable through this very simple method. The method of meditation is simple. You just sit. If you do it regularly, you will find inner peace.  If you long for inner peace, but have not tried meditation, you should try it.

First Post

I am going to give this wordpress thing another shot.  I started off blogging here under a different account and then moved to tumblr (micro-blogging).  I have been using tumblr for a little over a year, and while it is nice, I want something that provides a better environment for longer posts and interaction/discussions.

I am writing these posts as reminders for me.  Not really a journal, but just thoughts that I have that I want to remember and want to share with others.  This not meant to be an ego outlet, but really an ego observation.  I welcome any discussion, positive or negative.  I think we are all here to learn from each other.
